Dancing In The Park

 Dancing in the Park is held on Monday evenings in summer at an outdoor setting.

Dates for the 2024/25 season are:

DECEMBER 2024 – Monday 16th and 23rd
JANUARY 2025 – Monday 6, 13 and 27th
FEBRUARY 2025 – Monday 3, 10, 17 and 24th

Venue:  Stage 88 in Commonwealth Park.

Stage 88 is covered, so dancing will go ahead come rain or shine.

This is a free community event to which everyone is welcome. However, as we are being charged for use of the venue, a gold coin donations bucket will be out to help defray this cost.

Please note: if you are unwell or have been exposed to Covid, DO NOT attend. You will be required to sanitise hands before and between dances – sanitiser will be provided or bring your own. Wearing of masks and/or gloves is optional and at the wearer’s discretion.

Beginning at 6.30pm, the dancing goes until dusk. No dance experience required – all dances taught and called. Suitable for all dancers, including children from about 10yo.

Live music from our open band (all musicians welcome and encouraged to come and play – please note that there is no power, so be prepared for acoustic or battery power only).

DECEMBER 2024:

16 December:   Peter Foster, with Bush dances and maybe a Contra too
23 December:   Either Mark or Colin, plus Jim Williams, with Bush and Bavarian dances

JANUARY 2025:

6 January:       Mark with Bush dances and an easy Contra or two
13 January:     Ian Bull with Bush dances and maybe something else for variety
27 January:     Canberra Contra Club with Bush and easy Contra dances

FEBRUARY 2025:

3 February:     Colin with Bush, Contra and English Country plus Christine with some easy Irish dances
10 February:   Mark and Roger with Bush, Scandinavian and Contra
17 February:   Colin with Bush, Contra and English Country dances
24 February:   Party Night – all callers invited for a final pot pouri of dancing.
